In a recent interview with The Times, American actor Jeremy Strong reveals that he was almost the body double for Chris Evans in the feature film “Captain America”, released in theaters in 2011.
Before he became Captain America, young Steve Rogers was a shy and frail boy. In the 2011 Marvel movie, a body double was used for this version of the character, with Chris Evans’ face later added in CGI.
At the microphone of the Times, the American actor Jeremy Strong, notably known for his role of Kendall Roy in the HBO series Succession, reveals that he was almost this famous lining.
“They told me there was a top-secret Captain America movie. They needed someone to play his young body before he became a superhero”says the actor, on view this Wednesday in Armageddon Time, directed by James Gray.
Jeremy Strong, who was having a hard time breaking through at the time, considered the offer, which would also have seen him vocally dub young Steve Rogers. But he ends up refusing her.

“I was ruined. I needed the money. I thought about this proposal”he continues. “But that’s my story with Los Angeles. It was written that nothing would happen to me there. I felt that what was offered to me had no value… The day of afterwards, I came back to New York for a play.”
After this missed appointment with the Marvel team, Jeremy Strong will quickly bounce back. He will notably shoot for Steven Spielberg (Lincoln), Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty) and Adam McKay (The Big Short) before experiencing great success with the Succession series, which won him a Golden Globe.
