Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: a paid outfit pack not at all “Cool and stylish” and Hellfire Gala costumes revealed

Released at the end of last year, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be further refined next month with the promised arrival of a mode New Game+, which had been postponed from December to the beginning of 2024. We recently learned that the update which will be used to implement it is scheduled for March 7. There will of course be other new features including costumes, which are the talk of this Wednesday. Two of them will be taken directly from the comics covering the event Hellfire Galawheras’a pack will be paid for for the very first time. Indeed, as explained in the video, Insomniac Games joined forces with Gameheads to offer this charity pack which will initially be sold for €4.99. Although it is called “Cool and stylish”, it is difficult to want to wear such outfits, but to each their own after all… The way of doing things is also somewhat questionable, because if 100% of the price of purchase is donated, it will only be up to a maximum of $1 million and only for those purchased in the United States between March 7 and April 5, 2024. In addition, in the future they will be offered to everyone free of charge. Otherwise, The mode Photo will also benefit from some additions and the audio description option was presented in video.

You can find more details regarding these new features below via the statement from Community Director James StevensonInsomniac Games published on the PlayStation Blog.

Words fail us to express our gratitude for the response that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 found among the public during the end-of-year holidays. At Insomniac Games, we are all proud of the game, and today we have the great pleasure of giving you information on the important update which is arriving on PS5 on March 7.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 version 1.002 will have a New Part +. We know many of you are eager to jump back into the game on a tougher difficulty, while still retaining your outfits and abilities. Or maybe you just want to replay the mission(s) that you particularly liked… It’s obviously possible! Plus new unlockables like ultimate levels, golden gadget styles, and more!

By the way, speaking of styles: we added some for several outfits of the symbiote in Peter’s story. You will be able unlock them via the ultimate level in New Game + to give even more personality to your appearance. And yes, you can even determine the color of your symbiote abilities. But why limit yourself to new styles? While you love it when we implement new outfits at no additional cost. You’re in luck : Hellfire Gala outfits appear in the game for Peter and Miles. Peter inherits the visual created by Russell Dauterman, while Miles benefits from the iconic look featured on the magnificent Hellfire Gala alternate cover, drawn by Bernard Chang for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #8.

And you haven’t finished showing them from every angle with our Photo Mode updates, including an action figure feature and stickers. After completing the story, you will also have the freedom to freely change the time of day, in order to choose the optimal light for each of your shots. Don’t forget to share them with us by tagging us on social media with the hashtag #InsomGamesCommunity!

This update also marks the arrival of important accessibility features. We have in fact added the audio description** and screen reader** options in the game. Well aware that these features were highly anticipated, we thank the community for giving us a little extra time to ensure that they are impeccable. Other new features complete this update, including the captions during cutscenes or the high contrast of the contours.

We are also pleased to announce the release of two new outfits for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the result of a partnership between Insomniac Games and Marvel Games. The Cool and Stylish Outfit Pack will be available for €4.99 in Early Access. Starting March 7 and running through April 5, 2024, PlayStation will donate $4.99 (100% of the purchase price) to Gameheads for every Cool & Stylish Outfit Pack purchased in the United States, up to a total of 1 million* dollars. Thank you for your support of Gameheads, whose mission is to provide young people from working-class and racialized backgrounds with the means to succeed in the video games industry. And don’t worry, We have no plans to charge for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 outfits; Outfits from the Cool and Stylish Pack will be made available later at no additional cost.

The Cool and Stylish Outfit Pack includes:

  • Stylish Outfit for Peter;
  • Cool Outfit for Miles;
  • 10 stickers for Photo mode;
  • 2 frames for Photo mode.

Partnering with Gameheads means a lot to us, in our approach to working for better representation within the video game industry. Insomniac President Ted Price tells us more in this video:

To discuss our collaboration with Gameheads in more detail, we spoke with Malia Atta, Head of Culture and Identity at Insomniac, Damon Packwood, Director of Gameheads, and Eric Monacelli, Senior Director and Head of Product and Franchise Development at Marvel Games .

What is Gameheads?

Damon Packwood: “We support all kinds of talents and bold new voices in the world of gaming, we train students in the tech ecosystem, we prepare them for higher education, their careers and their life as citizens. We help students from low-income and/or minority groups (ages 15 to 25) in 15 states, with new branches in Honolulu and Atlanta. »

How did the partnership between Gameheads and Insomniac come about?

Malia Atta: “Gameheads and SIE have been collaborating for many years, but the partnership with Insomniac Games began when we hired three of their students in the technical, user experience and design departments. Each apprentice contributed significantly to the game, and we saw this as a great opportunity to promote Gameheads’ mission by having their artists create outfits for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.”

It looks great. And for what purpose?

Malia Atta: “This partnership benefits both Insomniac and Gameheads, giving our teams an opportunity to train, mentor and develop emerging talent, who then infuse their energy and fresh ideas into our games and culture . This partnership also opens the doors to the industry to more people with diverse backgrounds.

More generally, Insomniac Games aspires to maintain a motivating, diverse and lively environment, like our players and our community. We are currently seeking to further promote the voices of our developers, and to give them the means to express their sensitivity and their talents in the design of our games. »

Eric Monacelli: “Our artistic collaboration with Insomniac is committed to promoting a more representative world, through the characters of our video games. The Gameheads initiative makes this approach a reality. We have always sought to reflect the diversity of the world in an authentic way, especially by aiming to make Marvel’s artistic and narrative ambitions more accessible, varied and inclusive. »

What was the collaboration and iteration process like for designing the outfits?

Damon Packwood: “We loved working with [les artistes Insomniac] Bobby Hernandez, Johnson Truong and Davison Carvalho. Six of our students worked on iterations of outfits and stickers over the past summer. Quite a professional process. Our students carried out sprints over one or two weeks, presented their illustrations to the Insomniac team, received feedback, and after a few weeks, we agreed on a concept. Once approved, each student chose a different aspect of the outfit (shoes, texture, mask, web shooter), then we finalized the outfit and stickers in August. »

Tell us more about how the “Cool” and “Stylish” outfits turned out.

Damon Packwood: “The design of Miles Morales’ Cool outfit references 90s b-boys. Peter Parker’s Stylish outfit is inspired by 90s shows. Marisa Diaz, who created the outfits, was just looking to enjoy. We never thought Insomniac would choose it, but it was really fun to develop. Our designers tested some fun stuff. As for the less young, like me and the Insomniac team, it made us laugh to remember our clothing choices from 30 years ago. »

That’s all for today ! Thank you everyone for your tremendous support. We can’t wait to see you twirl around Marvel’s New York in your Hellfire Gala outfits or from the Cool and Stylish pack, discovering our New Part +!
