After a release with great fanfare on PlayStation 4 and a few years later on PlayStation 5 in a remastered version, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered hits PC this Friday, August 12 2022. In Sony’s new policy to release their license on PC with for example, Days Gone, god of waror Horizon Zero Dawna nice little spider from the neighborhood has just slipped in to heat up our graphics cards. So what are the latest adventures of Peter Parker worth on PC with this Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered ?
Test condition: We played the game for about ten hours on a PC equipped with an RTX 3060, an I5-11300H, and 16gb of RAM, and on a second computer equipped with an I5-7400 , 16gb of RAM and a GTX 1060, all on a version sent by the publisher.
Living the life of Spider-Man
Spider-Man Remastered is, as the name suggests, the remastered version released in 2020 on PlayStation 5. In fact, we are on exactly the same basis as on Sony’s console. Indeed, the software offers the new face of Peter Parker, all the content released in the remastered version, which also includes the three DLCs, “The city never sleeps”.
It’s time to go to the side of the story, for the two or three at the back who haven’t had the chance to live the adventures of our favorite spider. The software developed by Insomniac Games immerses us in the skin of Peter Parker who has been living a double life for eight years now as Spider-Man. Our spider’s life will be completely turned upside down when emblematic enemies come to put a spoke in its wheels.
Then, as mentioned above, the title also offers itself the luxury of having three additional chapters which slightly increase our playing time, and above all, enrich the story of our Peter Parker where he will have to face other opponents like a certain Hammerhead and a certain Black Cat well known to our weaver.
Swinging in New York but on PC
The arrival of the PC game will allow those who want to dive or dive back into the adventures of Spider-Man, to play with the best version of spider-man available. Indeed, the software benefits from optimized graphics for PC, with among other things, unlocked framerates, Ray-tracing reflections and improved shadows, as well as support for ultrawide screens, but unfortunately we do not have been able to test this last feature because we did not have this type of screen during the test.
Either way, the difference between the PC version and the PlayStation 5 version remains very minimalsince the title was already very pretty on Sony’s latest console, even if necessarily on PC the title will be at its maximum capacity, provided of course you have a competition computer to run it in Ultra with the Ray -tracing activated.
That said, it’s a real pleasure to browse New York with FPS going beyond 60 FPS. However, during our test we had some FPS drops, but without much impact on the gameplay. Especially since the Day One update fixed some issues that we had seen on the stability of the title, including some textures that took time to load during certain cutscenes.
Fortunately, for owners of the RTX graphics card, NVIDIA DLSS technology is supported by the game. In fact, this allows you to boost the performance of the title while keeping the best possible graphics for your machine. This was a great help to us to achieve stable FPS during our various sessions while waiting for our little Day One patch.
One of the really cool features of this PC version is DualSense support. In effect, it is possible to play with the controller of the PS5, and to benefit from all its technologies as if we were on console. In fact, you can feel Spider-Man moving through the New York skyline thanks to the haptic feedback and adaptive trigger effects of the DualSense. However, you will need to connect the controller directly to USB to be able to benefit from it.
PC Setup
In order to conclude, the Nixxes Software studio which imported this version on PC did a great job of optimization. Even on our computer equipped with a GTX 1060 we managed to reach 60 FPS, but with some concessions in terms of graphics of course.
The title runs very well even on machines that are not power monsters, which will allow more people to discover the latest fabulous adventures of Spider-Man.
