Marvel’s Spiderman 2 on PS5 is selling very well… but there’s a catch

The new adventures of Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PS5 are a clear critical success, but also commercial. In any case, this is what PlayStation boasts on its official “X”, revealing a completely impressive sales score. In fact, no less than 2.5 million games have found buyers since its release less than a week ago, making this “cake” the fastest-selling software on the PS5 ahead of God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West or Final Fantasy 16. And it must be admitted that this score is indeed enough to impress observers; 2.5 million copies is no small thing, especially in one territory, the United Kingdom.

The dragster versus the diesel

Indeed, the figures given by PlayStation only concern the United Kingdom. The Japanese are less forthcoming regarding sales in other countries. If the Weaver is (for the moment) more successful than the plumber on the soil of Perfidious Albion (in the same period of time, Super Mario Bros. Wondertotals “only” 79,000 sales), this is the only lesson we can draw from this figure.

To be able to calmly compare the success of these two licenses, released on the same day, we would need to have the figures in their entirety, in the world and over a slightly longer period (at least a month) because, traditionally, Nintendo games sell over long periods of time as evidenced by the incredible success of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch.
