This is his last appearance on the small screen. Moon Knight was the last television project of Gaspard ullieltragically died on January 19, 2022. In the new original series from Marvel Studios, the late actor plays Anton Mogart, aka the Midnight Man, a wealthy art collector with a troubled past.
This character appears in the third episode of the series and interacts with the hero Steven/Marc (Oscar Isaac), Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and Layla (May Calamawy) in Egypt. While this third chapter of Moon Knight pays homage to Gaspard Ulliel, director Mohamed Diab and the actors of the series evoked for AlloCiné their memories of the deceased actor.
Of the three days of filming spent with Gaspard Ulliel, Oscar Isaac remembers the actor he was “kind, touching and inclined to do different things”. For her part, May Calamawy evokes “a hard worker and impressive” but also someone “gentle, present and attentive”.
In addition to the qualities of Gaspard Ulliel, Ethan Hawke pointed out that “What’s particularly heartbreaking is that he was so excited about his future and so invested in what he was going to do”. Same story for director Mohamed Diab, who saw him as “a Hollywood star”:
“He could have been a legend in the United States. And I thought that could be the first step. At least it’s a nice farewell. He was down to earth and it was nice to work with him . He showed up on set like it was his first time acting with a lot of humility. Honestly, I told him multiple times that I thought his character was bound to come back.”
