Marvel’s Wolverine playable illegally, Sony strikes back

After the playable version of Marvel’s Wolverine was released, Sony took its first action against people who tried to get their hands on it.

In recent hours, the situation around Marvel’s Wolverine has deteriorated. A playable version of the game has apparently been posted online, and this is confirmed. This is a non-final PC build that ended up in the wrong hands. If Sony must surely work with the authorities to identify the culprit(s) of this piracy, the Japanese firm has already taken steps to try to limit the distribution of this version. A response aimed at all those who have searched the Web to get their hands on it.

Sanctions for the pirated version of Marvel’s Wolverine

Following the hacking of Insomniac Games’ servers, those responsible first released several leaks on Marvel’s Wolverine with images as well as details about the game and its cast. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there since the authors released a playable build under development shortly after. A version obtained completely illegally which is currently being tracked by PlayStation.

To try to counter all this, Sony is sending DMCA requests to gamers – at least in the US – which are notices to inform people that they are violating copyrights. The primary goal being that they immediately stop spreading such files, documents or others. In order to track people who downloaded this build of Marvel’s Wolverine, the studio had to attach a tracker in the event of a theft like this. Then, the Japanese company called on IP Internet service providers to share the addresses of the accused.

But for the moment, they obviously risk nothing. Indeed, those who have recovered these Marvel’s Wolverine files are ordered to delete them. And that goes for all the machines that were used for the download. However, it is not specified whether or not Sony plans to pursue legal action if this is not done.
