Märwil TG – attic of apartment building burns out

On Sunday evening, the attic of an apartment building burned in Märwil in the canton of Thurgau. A passer-by noticed the fire and sounded the alarm at 8:45 p.m., as the Thurgau cantonal police wrote in a media release.

According to Kapo, when the emergency services arrived, the flames were already shooting out of the attic. The first firefighters on site evacuated 23 residents from the property. Nobody was hurt. There was property damage of several tens of thousands of francs. The cause of the fire is now being clarified.

A news scout reports that the entire attic caught fire. After 10 p.m., smoke was still rising. On site, however, the situation is now “relatively relaxed”. Several people, including presumably local residents and members of the ambulance, had gathered in front of the house. The property is an older house with three floors, which is part of a settlement.
