Maserati: 1200 hp and 300 km/h, this future electric sports car wants to blow your hair

Maserati has big ambitions when it comes to electric cars. Among the future models launched, a luxury sports car stands out with its 1,200 horsepower and top speed of over 300 km/h.

Specialized in luxury, sports and racing cars, Maserati will work to electrify its range as it should. To do this, the Stellantis subsidiary says it is ready to launch its brand new 100% electric range on the market under the name of Folgore.

This plan aims in particular to make all Maserati models available in electric versions by 2025. It is in particular a question of the Maserati MC20 supercar, the new luxury sports sedan Maserati Quattroporte, but also the Levante SUV, also labeled as sporty and luxurious.

More than 300 km/h

And among the other automobiles affected, one of them stands out. It will be the very first electric car in its offer, whose nickname takes up the name of the range to the letter: Folgore, meaning lightning in Italian. This vehicle will correspond to a variant of the GranTurismo luxury coupe.

With such a nickname, we necessarily expect a thunderbolt of war and high-flying performance. That’s good: it is precisely the case, because Maserati mentions a power of more than 1200 hp, a 0 to 100 km/h in the space of around two seconds and a phenomenal top speed of over 300 km/h.

Other vehicles in 2023

This little rocket will make its debut in 2023 alongside a gasoline-powered version. For the occasion, it will be produced at the Mirafiori plant and will rely on the company’s know-how in Formula E. It will notably be a question of three independent engines.

The year 2023 will be marked by two other electric launches: that of the compact SUV Grecale and the sports convertible GranCabrio, an official press release tells us.
