This Friday, April 1, TF1 kicks off the third season of Mask Singer. Discover the incredible scheme put in place to hide the identity of celebrities.
It’s go again ! This Friday, April 1, TF1 draws the third season of Mask Singer, still presented by Camille Combal. Twelve new personalities have agreed to play the game, hidden under new and more impressive costumes than each other. Facing them, four investigators – Alessandra Sublet, Jarry, Kev Adams and Anggun – will try to decipher the clues given in order to discover which celebrities are made up of Butterfly, Tree, Cosmonaut or even Coral Fish. If, on the set, the valves fuse, the success of the program rests on this famous investigation to find the name of those who are masked. Even among themselves, they do not know the identity of their competitors. “There’s a whole secret scheme“, explains Camille Combal during the presentation to the press. It starts even before the arrival in the studio.
When a celebrity leaves home, a car awaits a few blocks away. The driver then informs him of his exact position by message. When she enters the cabin, the personality hides from the driver himself masked. It is only when it is ready that the driver removes his blindfold to drive it to the studio. She enters it by a different entrance from that of the public and those of the technical teams, investigators and presenter. All must then leave their “phones in Yondr pouches, like at Dave Chapel or Florence Foresti shows. So we no longer have a cell phone for the day“, details Camille Combal.
How does the production play tricks on Camille Combal and the investigators?
Once the candidate Mask Singer is at Plaine-Saint-Denis, he puts on a huge visor, a hoodie and goes as quickly as possible to his dressing room on which is simply inscribed the name of his disguise. It is in this room that he puts on his costume before going to the set. “The production plays with us: some members are dressed like celebrities to create doubt“, protests, with a smile, Camille Combal who is not in the confidence of the casting. Same observation with the technical teams. “The unmasking, which is shot on a second set – called La tanière – is filmed by an extremely small crew. And it’s not the same rule either. So those making the show don’t see the reveal“, assures Rémi Faure, the program director of TF1.
Alone about fifteen people know the composition of the cast. These wear a “Talk to me” badge that tells celebrities they can talk to them with confidence in their real voice. “They don’t talk to other people at all and have a nanny who takes care of them, picks them up, takes them to the set, etc. All day they stay locked up in their dressing room“, continues the host with hilarious humor. And Anthony Meunier, the producer to launch in the blink of an eye: “Their only occupation is to ask to go to the toilet in the hope of meeting other celebrities“. And even in these rare cases, it is impossible to exchange the slightest word or to try to see a detail of the other because of their attire.
