Maskmaker TEST: what is the Meta Quest 2 version of this excellent game worth?

A year and a half after its release on PCVRthe studio InnerspaceVR plunges us back into his dreamlike adventure in search of the forgotten masks of the kingdom of masksthis time on Meta Quest 2. We really liked this version. So what’s the value of porting the game to our standalone devices? Here is our verdict.

The game has been successfully ported to our standalone machines and makes no concessions to gameplay and story content.

Like A Fisherman’s Taleprevious title of the studio, we are led to travel through different tables in a rather unique way, directly serving the narration. In maskmakerwe follow the quest of an artisan guided by a certain Prospero, in an enchanting world, in search of several truths, but also and above all masks and their great power. Each of them, which we take care to make in our magic workshop using different elements collected throughout the adventure, connects us directly to the inhabitants of the Kingdom. Like a multiverse, each individual and each biome is connected with the others through the strength of these mystical objects. the gameplay of the game is wonderful and transports us to a dreamlike and exotic epic a thousand leagues from what the store offers us Meta Quest today.

The game has been successfully ported to our standalone machines and its content is identical to the PC version VR. The graphic paste used, just like the general optimization of the game, made it possible without great concession. The environments, history and gameplay are the same, and what distinguishes this standalone version from those on Rift and SteamVR consists only of a little less worked light effects, a lower resolution (this is why we have prepared profiles for you QuestGamesOptimizer HD and HD+) and loading times presenteven if extremely fast, when we put on or take off our virtual masks to move from one world to another.

mask maker quest 2

It is therefore, not without a certain excitement, that we plunged back into the adventure of maskmaker in search of forgotten masks, its new mechanics and its paintings that invite contemplation. The standalone version is doing wonderfully, the soul of the game is intact and the story, just like on the PC version VR will be completed within five hours.
