Master Detective Archives: Rain Code presents the Master Detectives

From the screenwriter Kazutaka Kodaka to the characters illustrated by Rui Komatsuzaki and the music by Masafumi Takada, fans of Dangaronpa will only need a few seconds to recognize the executives behind this new title published by Spike Chunsoft. The trailer of the day presents some of the characters of this new narrative adventure articulated around a band of Master Detectives, each endowed with a special ability. These “Forensic Skills” range from Disguise (imitating the appearance and voice of others), to Fine Hearing (detecting heartbeats and whispers) to Retrocognition (witnessing past crime scenes). Except for the protagonist of the story who gives us amnesia and therefore does not remember his talent, but who under certain conditions will be able to use the full range of powers of his partners.

The League of Extraordinary Detectives

Yuma Kokohead doesn’t even know what led him to the detective path anymore, but he can count on the advice of a Shinigami alternating between the form of a little ghost and that of a young gothic girl. Along with the criminals, the Detectives will have to deal with Amaterasu Corporation, a sprawling organization that controls the city and sees the World Detective Organization as a threat to its dark designs. “Heavily involved in unsolved cases, this company uses its enormous influence to fabricate facts or conceal them when they do not go its way. She erects obstacles to prevent the truth from being revealed“, we are told.

To get to the bottom of things, the game will allow you to explore the city in 3D but also to switch to another dimension leading to the truth, that of the Labyrinth of Mysteries. We still know little about the gameplay phases that await us here, but it will be a question of facing ghosts who will try to prevent us from discovering the truth. It will then be necessary to dodge their assertions and cut through their contradictions using the solution blade. All of this will be localized in French and available on June 30 on Nintendo Switch.
