Only two weeks left before discovering Apple’s ambitious series Masters of the Airscheduled for January 26 on the Apple TV+ streaming platform and via Canal+.

To keep us waiting, the Apple company has had the kindness to reveal the introductory credits, which will bring back memories for some.

Slow motion and dramatic music

Everything is there: the lyrical music, the slow motions galore, the chiaroscuro images… And although we see this with the necessary hindsight, it’s difficult not to feel a little pang of nostalgia in the face of this introduction which takes up all the codes “sister” series Brothers in arms (Band of Brothers in VO) and Pacific Hell (The Pacific). Put the image in full screen and the sound at full volume, and enjoy.

Rest assured: if the images in this introduction appear strangely contrasted or saturated (especially in the sky), it is only during the credits, and this is not the case in the rest of the series.

As a reminder, this new nine-episode series created and written by John Orloff (Brothers in arms, The Kingdom of Ga’Hoole) tells the story of the pilots of the 100th Bombardment Group, nicknamed the Bloody Hundredth.

Like the two previous series produced by HBO, it is co-produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. The music that can be heard in the credits is by composer Blake Neely (USS Greyhoundthe series You, The Flight Attendant, All-American).

Masters of the Air has a generous budget of $300 million, making it one of the most expensive series in history. An amount which can be explained in particular by first-rate special effects, a casting of recognized actors (Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Barry Keoghan), but also by multiple postponements due to the pandemic.

Just to compare, and because it always feels good, let’s review the credits of the cult series Brothers in armsreleased in 2001:

Masters of the Air is broadcast from January 26, 2024 on Apple TV+ and Canal+, at the rate of one episode per week. Since April 20, 2023, Apple TV+ programs have been available in the Canal+ offer, from the first subscription level.
