Ukraine buys thousands of German anti-tank weapons

German anti-aircraft missiles, machine guns and ammunition reached Ukraine a few days ago. Now there are more supplies. Thousands of “Matador” anti-tank weapons are delivered from North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Ukrainian government has bought 5,100 anti-tank weapons from a German arms manufacturer. The German press agency learned this from Ukrainian government circles. The Federal Ministry of Economics, which is responsible for arms export controls, did not want to comment on request.

Manufacturer of the RGW90 HH “Matador” shoulder-launched weapons is the armaments company Dynamit Nobel Defense in Burbach, North Rhine-Westphalia. The Ukrainian government will bear the costs of 25 million euros. 2,650 of the weapons have already reached Ukraine on Saturday, with the remaining 2,450 to be delivered in weekly tranches after completion by the end of May.

In a recent video speech, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for Ukraine to need more weapons “to protect not only Ukraine but also other Eastern European countries.” “We’ve been waiting for 31 days. Who is actually in charge of the Euro-Atlantic community? Is it really still Moscow because it relies on intimidation?” said Zelenskyi. Kyiv needs tanks, fighter planes and anti-ship systems.

The Ukrainian armed forces had already received supplies from Germany a few days ago: 1,500 “Strela” anti-aircraft missiles and 100 MG3 machine guns were delivered to Ukraine. There were also eight million rounds of ammunition for handguns. In addition, further relief supplies from Germany have arrived for the Ukrainian armed forces in the war zone. These include 350,000 food packs, 50 medical transport vehicles and medical supplies.
