A family behind the camera. Eighteen years after the release of Hate, the film crew lost a loved one. The news was announced Friday, December 1, by the director of the film, Mathieu Kassovitz. Visibly upset, the 56-year-old actor published a vibrant tribute on his Instagram account, addressed to Julie Quiedeville, general manager on the César-winning film, who over time became producer and production director.
Under a photograph captured in black and white, we see Vincent Cassel and Saïd Taghmaoui tenderly kissing the young woman wrapped in a scarf and a hat, on each of her cheeks.
In legend, the one who played Nino Quincampoix in The fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain (directed in 2001 by Jean-Pierre Jeunet) began by writing: “Yesterday we all lost a friend who changed the lives of many people. And the actor says more about their meeting: “Sophie was a friend met by chance in the cinema. She managed on La Hate and then on Assassin(s). She gave everything she had for the films and for the teams who had the chance to work with her.” Then he added: “For years she had been fighting cancer, it was the only battle she did not win. Thank you Sophie, no one will forget you, you changed our lives.”
“I really thought I had pissed everyone off”
For several months, Mathieu Kassovitz has faced several hard blows. Indeed, on September 3, the producer was the victim of a motorcycle accident, which forced him to be placed in an artificial coma due to multiple open fractures. Questioned by Mouloud Achour on this subject on November 30 on the set of Click, the actor for the first time agreed to return to this traumatic moment for his loved ones. “I woke up to a number [incalculable] messages, either from friends or former friends, even from my family, who thought I was dead. It was quite an interesting event.” he said, his left foot held by external pins. Surprised by the number of people worried about him, the actor blurted out: “It’s like I invited people to my fake funeral, and I thought there were going to be 100 people who came, but it ended up being 10,000 people who came.” And to conclude: “I thought I had pissed everyone off for so long that I thought I had managed to put a distance between people and me.“
