Mathilda May worried her fans this Monday, July 11. Indeed, the actress, currently traveling in Bali, shared a photo of her, where we can see her lying in a bed, an IV in her arm. In a long text published as a caption, she explains that she was “devastated by the dengue virus”. “Difficult days, immobilized without being able to eat or drink (and other not very fun symptoms)”, she explains. Faced with such a critical situation, the actress confided that she had lucky to be French.
Thus, in the rest of her publication, Mathilda May insisted on highlighting the French health system : “It is clear that where I am, without mutual insurance, I would not have had access to this overpriced hospital (imagine with local salaries…) It is therefore the great luxury here to be able to be treated at home. hospital, as in many other countries, alas”, she regrets. The actress wanted to send a political message through the hard blow she is going through: “So I think of our French health system, which is dying while it is one of the most beautiful constructions of which France has always been able to be proud. Access to care for ALL is the basis of a just society. We must preserve at all costs this essential and exemplary human value”.
Mathilda May repatriated in a few “days”
While the emergency rooms of French hospitals found themselves in an extreme situation during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mathilda May wants to support them : “Beyond political divisions, I am talking here about equity, fraternity and ethics. France must remain this noble country which protects these citizens from the barbarism of an absurd world where the door is closed to the sick without money. Let’s defend the hospitals that are screaming and dying of not being heard. By fighting as they have always done, caregivers not only protect a system but they protect us, the patients, and all patients without distinction. I wish you health, and I wish all of us that our hospitals recover”. She concludes her message by announcing that she will be repatriated to France in a few “days”.
