Mathilde Seigner: why was she sentenced in 2018?

In December 2017, Mathilde Seigner was arrested by the police. A few months later, the three-time César-nominated actress was sentenced by the courts to a three-month suspended prison sentence.

The end of the year 2017 is not a good memory in the mind of Mathilde Seigner… On the night of December 28, the actress spent an alcoholic evening in a Parisian restaurant. When leaving the establishment, Mathilde Seigner had lost control of his vehicle and hit the barriers of the Lycée Henri-IV, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, as you revealed Closer.com. Placed in police custody for sixteen hours, the alcohol test of the actress had proved positive since she had 2.2 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, almost five times the authorized limit.

“All drinks served in a bar or restaurant (beer, wine, aperitif, etc.) contain the same amount of alcohol, i.e. the equivalent of 10g of alcohol. Each drink consumed increases the alcohol level on average of 0.25g/l of blood”, explained an official road safety leaflet.

According to these indications, which however vary according to the morphology of a person, it is therefore a little less than ten drinks that the actress has drunk, explained Closer in February 2018. To the police, Mathilde Seigner then explained that he had been drinking “three bottles of white wine with four other people”. On February 6, 2018, the actress was summoned to the Paris tribunal de grande instance for an appearance with prior knowledge of guilt, then revealed Closer, and risked a maximum sentence of two years in prison and a fine of 4,500 euros. Before the judge, the actress had not denied her responsibility and had been sentenced to a three-month suspended prison sentence and a six-month license suspension. “I scared myself, but above all there is one thing I would like to say to all French people: above all, do not take your car in these cases”, she confided in the columns of TV Star a few days after his accident.

Mathilde Seigner confided to having “made a huge mistake”

“You put your life in danger and especially the lives of others. There, I didn’t kill anyone, I didn’t disfigure myself but I won’t do it again”, swore Mathilde Seigner to our colleagues. In the columns of Gala, the actress explained that she had “was scared”: “If I renew one day, I will never take the wheel again having drunk. Sixteen hours of police custody, it calms down and it definitely served as a lesson to me. (…) The day was was very hard. I could have knocked down someone, I could have hurt myself, I know that I did a huge mistake”. Fortunately, more fear than harm for Mathilde Seigner, who got away with a suspended sentence but above all, a great fright.
