Matt Damon
Wife saved him from depression
Matt Damon’s wife once saved the actor from slipping into depression during a difficult time, he has now revealed.
Matt Damon, 52, threatened to slip into depression while filming an unnamed film, he said in an interview. He received help during this difficult time from his wife, Luciana Barroso, 46.
Without wanting to reveal the title of the film, Damon reported in an interview with “Jake’s Takes” of the frustrating filming: “And I remember being halfway through production and I still had months to go that I had taken my family somewhere and it was inconvenient for them and I remember my wife telling me helped when I fell into depression…”
The right perspective
His wife would have simply told him, “We’re here now,” which would have put his work back in perspective, he says.
Damon further said he owes it in large part to his wife that he is a professional actor. From her he would have learned to “give everything, even if you know that it won’t be worth the effort”. For him, this attitude makes a professional: “And she really helped me with that.”
Damon and Barroso have been married for 18 years. The couple have four daughters.
