The death of Matthew Perry (1969-2023) deeply shocked his closest “Friends” colleagues. In a joint statement, Jennifer Aniston (54), Courteney Cox (59), Lisa Kudrow (60), Matt LeBlanc (56) and David Schwimmer (56) explain that they would like to comment in detail, but this is not yet possible.

“We are a family”

“We are all deeply devastated by the loss of Matthew,” said a short statement from the actors. which is available to the US magazine “People”.. They make it clear how much Perry meant to them: “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.”

There is “so much to say,” but for now Perry’s friends would like to take a moment “to mourn and process this incredible loss.” As time goes on, they want to “say more when we are able. For now, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone around the world who loved him.”

The moving statement is signed by Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc and Schwimmer, according to People. For around ten years, Perry starred alongside her as Chandler Bing in the cult sitcom “Friends”.

The series makers are also mourning

The series makers had each other according to a report in the Los Angeles Times already expressed before. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the death of our beloved friend Matthew,” said Marta Kauffman (67) and David Crane (66), the minds behind “Friends,” as well as executive producer Kevin S. Bright (68), in one joint statement.

They described Perry as a great talent who made the role of Chandler Bing his own. Saying something like that is a cliché, “but in Matthew’s case there are no more accurate words.” Since they first saw him as the series character, there has never been another Chandler for them.

Matthew Perry, who became famous for “Friends,” was found dead in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles on October 28, according to US reports. The cause of death has not yet been clarified.
