The actor Götz Schweighöfer, Matthias Schweighöfer’s uncle, died at the age of 61.
Actor Matthias Schweighöfer (40, “100 things”) mourns the loss of his uncle Götz Schweighöfer. Like the German-Sorbian People’s Theater in Bautzen communicated on Facebook, the actor died last Sunday (March 21) at the age of 61 after a “serious illness”.
Götz Schweighöfer will be remembered by the “Bautzen audience as a character full of character, a humorous person who acted successfully on stage with artistic dedication and acting skills”, it goes on to say.
Schweighöfer studied at the theater college in Leipzig. Afterwards he worked at the State Theater Eisenach, the Mecklenburg State Theater Schwerin, the Baden State Theater Karlsruhe and the Theater Altenburg Gera. From 2000 to 2008 he was engaged at the German-Sorbian People’s Theater in Bautzen and has been a freelance actor since then.
He came from a theater family, his father was an artistic director, his brothers are actors and he was the uncle of film stars Matthias Schweighöfer.
