Maverick Games: Former Playground Games (Forza Horizon) found their own video game studio

While Playground Games is entirely focused on rebooting Fable which the public hopes to hear from as soon as the developers are finally ready to show it, former members of the British firm have decided to join forces to found their own video game studio. Entitled Maverick Games, it is based in Leamington Spa (United Kingdom) and is headed by Mike Brown, former creative director of the license Forza Horizon.

An open-world AAA in preparation

According to the GamesIndustry site, the company has ten employees. In addition to Mike Brown, other names you may know have joined the ranks of Maverick Games like Tom Butcher (Executive Producer), Matt Craven (Technical Director), Gareth Harwood (Content Director), Fraser Strachan (Director audio), Ben Penrose (art director, ex-Playgrounds Games and Sharkmob), Elly Marshall (UX/UI director, ex-Electronic Arts) and Harinder Sangha (operations director, ex-Sega Hardlight and Sumo Leamington).

While waiting to see what the studio will be able to bring to the industry in the future, note that, according to Mike Brown and Harinder Sangha, Maverick Games aims to become “a world-class company” able to offer an attractive working environment that meets the modern needs of employees.

Another challenge to take up, bringing together a team of 140 encouraged people “to take real creative risks” as part of the design of a AAA in the open world, which will not necessarily be a racing game, no further details at this time. To be continued.
