After months of rumors and rumors, Warner has finally formalized the European launch of its Max streaming platform, and its imminent arrival in France.

What is Max?

This SVoD streaming service created by Warner Bros. Discovery is the result of the merger between the HBO Max and Discovery+ platforms, new in France.

Launched in May 2023 in the United States, then last February in South America, it then arrived in the rest of the world and in Europe during the year 2024. In France, it will replace the Warner Pass in the medium term from Amazon Prime Video.

To date, Max has approximately 97 million subscribers, making it the fourth largest streaming platform in the world behind Disney+ (150.2 million), Prime Video (200 million) and Netflix (260 million). Max’s announced goal is to reach 120 to 150 million subscribers by 2025.

What films and series on Max?

Max brings together the prestigious catalog of the Warner Bros. studio. and its subsidiaries, as well as the content of numerous channels owned by the American media group: HBO, Cartoon Network, CNN, Discovey Channel, Warner TV, TCM Cinéma, Adult Swim, Eurosport, Cartoonito, etc.

Max’s catalog therefore includes prestigious productions such as Game Of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The Sopranos Or True Detectivebut also animation oriented more towards adults with Rick & Morty, Archer, Samurai Jack, Primal And My Hero Academia.

When will Max be available in France?

During a conference given at the Series Mania Festival, Discovery Networks International CEO Jean-Briac Perrette announced the launch of the streaming platform in Europe from May 21, 2024.

The launch in France and other territories (Belgium, Netherlands, Poland) will follow “from close”, and is expected to occur before the 2024 Paris Olympics, which begin July 26. A persistent rumor announces it for mid-June.

It is still too early to tell, but you will undoubtedly be able to access the Max platform via the Internet and the official website, but also via smart TVs, and a dedicated application on iOS and Android. Although the prices in France will be announced later, we already know the details of the different subscriptions:

• Basic with advertising: an offer at a lower price, including advertising. Two devices simultaneously, and Full HD resolution.

• Standard: Full HD resolution, two devices simultaneously and download up to 30 content to watch offline.

• Premium: Full HD or 4K resolution, and with Dolby Atmos sound (subject to availability), four devices simultaneously, and download of 100 offline contents.

• Sport Option: an additional option to add to any basic offer, offering coverage of the most important sporting events, including Grand Slam tournaments, cycling grand tours, 24 hours of Le Mans, live Eurosport channels 1 and Eurosport 2. Two devices simultaneously.

For comparison, Prime Video’s current Warner Pass (which will disappear in the medium term) is an option offered at €9.99/month, while American subscriptions range between $9.99 and $19.99 per month. .
