Max Payne, Alan Wake, Control: a star of Remedy games has left us, casting a chill over remakes

If Remedy Entertainment began his career with Death Rally, the Finnish studio especially made an international reputation with Max Payne in 2001, following a police officer battling drug dealers in New York. If the character has the face of creative director Sam Lake, he especially has the voice of James McCaffrey.

Unfortunately, we learn today via TMZ the death of James McCaffrey, at the age of 65, following cancer. The actor starred in several films and series, including Rescue me, the heroes of September 11but he will have especially marked the players by doubling Max Payne in all three games. He also lent his voice to Tom Zane in the first Alan Wakehas Alex Casey In Alan Wake 2 (who also has the face of Sam Lake) and even played the director of the Federal Control Office Zachariah Trench In Control. Suffice to say that he was very close to the entire team of Remedy Entertainment, he also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the saga Max Payne in July 2021.

Obviously, all fans of the Remedy Connected Universe are in mourning and many players wonder about its presence in the remakes of the first two Max Payne, made official last year. Should James McCaffrey reprise his role? Has he already recorded his lines of dialogue? Will it be replaced? Remedy Entertainment has not communicated on the subject for the moment.
