May 1 in Paris: the woman suspected of having assaulted a firefighter tried in immediate appearance this Wednesday


The 38-year-old woman suspected of having committed violence against a firefighter during the May Day demonstration is referred to the prosecution for an immediate appearance to be held on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old, present in the demonstration as a “street medic” will be tried by the criminal court for “violence on a person responsible for a public service mission, contempt, rebellion, participation in a group with a view to committing violence or degradation during a demonstration and hindering the arrival of relief intended to combat a disaster dangerous for people, ”said the Paris prosecutor’s office.

She had been arrested by the police around 6 p.m. last Sunday, near Place de la Nation, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris.

Already known to the police

During the arrest, she resisted. On her, the officials had found a hammer, a pair of scissors and a gas mask.

She is already known to the police for at least two acts of violence against law enforcement officers.

302 assaults were reported for the first quarter of 2022. A number “down 11% compared to the first quarter of 2021”, according to a note from the Ministry of the Interior published on Monday.
