President Emmanuel Macron assured Friday that he believed he was not at the “heart of the investigation” by the national financial prosecutor’s office on the intervention of consulting firms in the 2017 and 2022 campaigns, judging “normal for justice to do its job”, on the sidelines of a trip to Dijon.

Implicated in two judicial inquiries opened by the national financial prosecutor’s office concerning the presidential campaigns of 2017 and 2022, President Emmanuel Macron defended himself this Friday, during a trip to the Côte d’Or. The Head of State first assured that he believed he was not at the “heart of the investigation” of the PNF on the intervention of consulting firms in the last two campaigns, judging “normal for justice to do its job”.

Justice “will shed light on this subject”

“I fear nothing and (…) I believe that the heart of the investigation is not your servant”, affirmed the president in front of journalists, on the sidelines of a trip to Dijon. “I learned like you from the press that there were associations and elected officials who had decided to take legal action, it is normal for justice to do its job, it does it freely, it will precisely shed light about this,” he added.

In addition, the resident estimated on Friday that the return to the hospital of caregivers not vaccinated against Covid-19 should be a “scientifically established” decision, “not a political choice”.
