On the first anniversary of his death: Meat Loaf’s daughters celebrate their father as an artist and private citizen with a moving short film.

On January 20, 2022, Meat Loaf died at the age of 74. His two daughters paid tribute to him with a short film on the first anniversary of his death. Pearl, 48, and Amanda Aday, 42, published in honor of their father “Meat Loaf: A Celebration of Life” (German: “A Celebration of Life”).

The 35-minute film is a colorful collage of the life of the singer and actor. It features Meat Loaf on and off stage, in interviews and in film clips. Prominent companions such as Queen guitarist Brian May (75) remember their colleagues.

Funny and touching home videos

Home video clips also frequently feature father and grandfather Marvin Lee Aday, Meat Loaf’s real name. The flashbacks show, among other things, how he teaches his daughters to ride a bike, unpacks Christmas presents with them in matching pajamas or cuddles with his grandson, Pearl’s son Revel (11).

Amanda and Pearl want the film to celebrate the father who “gave us love and generosity, taught us and teased us,” as they write. “The father who laughed and cried with us, who taught us how to catch a ball and how to ride a bike, who celebrated our victories and picked us up when we fell.” Who was a big kid himself.

Both daughters followed in Meat Loaf’s footsteps in different ways. Pearl is an active musician and singer and performed with her father as a background singer. Amanda works as an actress.
