Mequating the human body to create its digital double is the dream pursued by Steven Levine. The director of virtual human modeling at Dassault Systèmes has been working on it for about ten years. “With the help of their patients’ digital twins, doctors will have the possibility to prepare their operations virtually, test the effects of a treatment, design custom-made implants or conduct clinical trials”, promises the engineer before acknowledging that, from dream to reality, the road is still long and strewn with pitfalls. “We don’t really know how all the organs communicate with each other, because medicine works with specialists who focus on only one part of the body. » Pragmatic, the Dassault teams…
