Meeting with Olivier Derivière, composer of game music (Plague Tale, Dying Light 2, Streets of Rage 4…)

How do you become a video game composer? When is the composer involved in the project? Olivier Deriviere answered our questions in complete transparency and even gave us a few anecdotes, in particular on how he ended up making the music for Streets of Rage 4.

The music in the video game is not only illustrative but interactive, according to him. It adapts to the player, to his inspirations, to his movements. The composer notably mentions the danger of AI or machine learning and how to keep the upper hand over these new systems…

Here is a small selection of about ten minutes from the interview, which lasted a little over an hour.

As a reminder, this is an interactive interview and several questions are taken directly from the chat! Join us live every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. on the Twitch channel Digital to exchange in a good mood with our guests on the news of the video game.
