Meg Ryan made a rare visit to the red carpet. At the Critics Choice Awards she shone in a sparkling evening gown.

See you again Meg Ryan (62): The actress showed up at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards on Sunday evening in a strapless dress and her famous “The Meg” bob.

The off-the-shoulder Saint Laurent dress stands on its own

The former “Harry and Sally” star rarely shows up at events and even took an eight-year break from acting. “I took a huge break because I felt like I wanted to develop so many other parts of my experience as a human being,” she explained last year. For example, she wanted to have more time for her children. She then made a comeback to the big screen in November with the rom-com “What Happens Later.”

For her rare appearance, she limited herself to a few accessories with her sequined Saint Laurent dress, for example without a necklace. She wore her hair styled into her signature layered bob, which helped her dominate ’90s beauty culture. The hairstyle called “The Meg” was created on the set of the film “French Kiss” in 1995. Ryan’s disheveled undone style in the film quickly gained popularity.

Acting is just a job, not a lifestyle

The actress became world famous in the 1990s thanks to her films such as “Harry and Sally” (1989) and “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993) and was considered a guarantee for successful romantic films. But as her popularity grew, the urge to withdraw from the spotlight also grew. It’s nice to see acting “as a job and not as a lifestyle,” she told People magazine after her eight-year hiatus. “For me, that’s a good way to navigate it.” During the Corona pandemic, she came up with the idea for the film “What Happens Later,” for which she also worked as a screenwriter and director.
