The Mega Drive Mini was a great public and critical success on the recent market of miniature retro consoles. SEGA therefore decided to repeat the experience with a Mega Drive Mini 2, first confirmed in Japan and North America (where it is logically called SEGA Genesis Mini 2).
The item’s release date was set for October 27, 2022 in both territories, but nothing had been confirmed for Europe yet. Rejoice, SEGA announced this week that the Mega Drive Mini 2 will also be available on our continent, also from 27 October. Pre-orders will not open until September, however, and the price has not yet been communicated. The first version cost 79.99 € at launch, so we can imagine an equal or close price.
In any case, there will be no surprise as to the games included in the minitature console, because SEGA has already confirmed the full list of titles it will include. There will be around sixty, from the Mega Drive and SEGA CD generations. And above all, there will be exclusive Mega Drive versions of arcade games and completely new games: in the West, we will be entitled to Devi & Piideveloped by Takashi Iizuka before he led Sonic the Hedgehog 3and Star-Mobileport of a PC Engine title.
