The DFB team’s 2-0 win against France not only caused enthusiasm among the fans, but also impressive ratings.

After the recent extremely sobering results of the German national team, the DFB team under coach Julian Nagelsmann (36) made an absolute dream start to the 2024 European Championship year in the game against France on Saturday evening (March 23rd). With a 2-0 win, the national team passed the dreaded endurance test with flying colors. As the media magazine “DWDL” reports, more than ten million TV viewers did not want to miss this sporting spectacle.

Younger viewers in particular tuned in

According to “DWDL”, an average of 10.12 million viewers watched the broadcast on ZDF on Saturday. This corresponds to a market share of 39.1 percent of the total audience. As the magazine further reports, an above-average number of younger viewers decided to broadcast the game on ZDF. Around 3.07 million viewers aged 14 to 49 ensured a market share of 49.8 percent in this age group.

As expected, the other European Championship matches of the football evening received significantly less attention. As of 11:20 p.m., only an average of 5.45 million viewers wanted to see the summary of the Netherlands-Scotland game, while only 3.75 million football fans were watching the coverage of the Ireland-Belgium game.
