Melania Trump: In the TV duel, she wears a face mask

Melania Trump appeared in public after her corona illness and the cancellation of an election campaign appearance – with a mask.

Melania Trump (50) has shown herself to the public again after her corona illness. Together with her husband, US President Donald Trump (74), she flew to his final TV debate against the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden (77) at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. While Donald Trump appeared on stage as usual without a mask, his wife and children in the audience wore a face mask.

Ivanka (38), Tiffany (27) and Eric Trump (36) left their masks on Thursday evening after taking a seat in front of the TV debate stage. The family came under fire after the first TV duel because the members had removed their mouthguards after sitting on the chairs set up at a safe distance. Joe Biden and his wife Jill (69) again consistently wore a mask when they performed in Tennessee. Biden only removed the protection for the actual debate.

TV duel was more temperamental

While the last TV duel between Trump and Biden went on with many interruptions, the final debate before the election on November 3rd was more objective. Presenter Kristen Welker (44), who received a lot of praise for her appearance, asked the opponents not to interrupt each other before the duel. A new technical detail also helped: the candidates' microphones were switched off as long as the other person was presenting his arguments.

Melania Trump completed her first public appointment in Tennessee after her Covid 19 illness. The first lady had to cancel another appearance at the beginning of the week. Last Tuesday evening, she was supposed to support her husband in the race for the US presidency in Erie, in the embattled state of Pennsylvania. "She is feeling better every day after recovering from Covid-19, but with a persistent cough and as a precautionary measure, she will not travel," said Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's chief of staff, in a statement, according to CNN.
