A wooden statue of Melania Trump (50) is apparently set on fire in Slovenia. That reports among other things "rtvslo.si". Accordingly, the fire department was able to extinguish the fire on Sunday. The sculpture was damaged by the fire. The statue of the First Lady of the USA was erected near her hometown Sevnica in July 2019. It was designed by American artist Brad Downey. The police are investigating the fire, it is said.

The statue depicting the wife of U.S. President Donald Trump (74) in a blue coat similar to the one she wore when her husband took office was controversial from the start. According to media reports, some residents of the city called the statue "shame" and "scarecrow" and complained that it was more like a smurfette than the first lady.

In the USA since the 90s

Melania Trump grew up in Slovenia and went to the United States in the 90s, where she worked as a model. After Donald Trump, with whom she has been married since 2005, was elected US President in 2016, her hometown Sevnica became popular with tourists.
