“Mélenchon knows that his economic program is not applicable”, considers the president of Medef

The economic program of Nupes would lead France to “bankruptcy”. This is what Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux says this morning on Europe 1. The president of Medef believes that Jean-Luc Mélenchon knows full well that his program is not feasible but that he is doing “demagogy” to make himself elect after the second round of legislative elections.

A “huge recession”

“This program will lead us directly to a huge recession”, warns Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux at the microphone of Dimitri Pavlenko. “And, if he doesn’t change course, there will be, at best, bankruptcy.” The president of Medef explains the consequences that, according to him, the blocking of prices and the massive increase in the minimum wage, defended in the economic program of Nupes, would have.

“Small businesses will be caught in a terrible scissor”

“All small businesses will find themselves caught in a terrible scissor since they can no longer increase their prices while their raw materials increase, their gas bills increase and on the other hand, the wages of their employees have increased. So there, the first reflex will be: ‘I’m stopping hiring. I’m ending all my fixed-term contracts, all my interims'”, he warns.

Regarding retirement at 60, defended by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux believes that this measure would have an “absolutely massive cost”. “We are talking about 80 to 100 billion euros in the long term. Immediately, interest rates in France will increase”, underlines the president of Medef.

According to him, “Jean-Luc Mélenchon is a very intelligent person. He knows that this program is not applicable. He is demagoguery to get elected”.
