The leader of the Insoumis said he was in favor of Olivier Faure’s proposal for a shared initiative referendum (RIP) on the taxation of super-profits.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon declared himself in favor of the proposal of the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure of a referendum of shared initiative (RIP) on the taxation of super-profits, Sunday by closing the “Amphis d’été” of La France rebellious in the Drôme. To be launched, the RIP requires the support of 20% of the members of Parliament first, then the signature of 10% of the electorate.
Mr. Mélenchon, in his speech in front of 5,000 people, asked for “emulation rather than competition” from the PS, EELV and PCF which form with LFI the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes). As proof, according to him: “The proposal of the first secretary of the PS, we do not reject it, it interests us, because the PS which is in the process of reconfiguring interests us as a partner”, declared Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
A petition for the government to tax super-profits
“If the group accepts a referendum motion, all the rebels will mobilize to gather the 4.5 million and a half votes” necessary, he added, concluding: “Thank you to Olivier Faure for having made this proposal because ‘it guarantees that the Nupes will live’. In addition, the Insoumis have launched a petition for the government to tax super-profits.

Mr. Mélenchon explained: “It is time to tax the profiteers of the crisis, to increase the contribution of very large companies. When the United States increases its taxes on companies by six points, let’s not say that it has become a chavista state!”
