Melinda Gates, her new revelations about her ex-husband Bill Gates

In an interview with CBS and aired Thursday, Melinda Gates made new revelations about her divorce from Bill Gates and about Jeffrey Epstein.

Since the announcement of her divorce from Bill Gates last May, Melinda Gates had walled herself in almost total silence. Infidelity, Jeffrey Epstein, divorce, lack of trust… After several months, she finally gave herself up during an interview with CBS broadcast on Thursday. The 50-year-old revealed to presenter Gayle King that there wasn’t a ‘specific moment’ that led to the end of her relationship, just that ‘trust was shattered’. She notably addressed the affair of her ex-husband with a colleague from Microsoft in 2000. Infidelity which was confirmed by Bill Gates when they announced their separation. “I believe in forgiveness, so I thought we were past that,” she explained.

For the philanthropist, the end of her marriage was a very difficult ordeal, so much so that she confessed to having “cried a lot for several days”. “There were days when I was literally lying on the floor thinking, ‘How is this possible? How am I going to get up and move on?'” And though at times she felt anger, she admitted it’s “part of the healing process.” But today, Melinda Gates has recovered from her emotions and is beginning to “turn the page on this chapter”. “It’s 2022 and I’m very excited to find out what lies ahead and what life has in store for me.”

A relationship that is only “friendly”

The author also made revelations about Jeffrey Epstein in terms that leave no doubt as to his opinion on the former friend of Bill Gates, who died in his prison in New York. If she only met him once out of curiosity, she said it was enough to realize what an “odious” and “evil” person he was. “I regretted the second I walked through the door.” And this feeling, she made her ex-husband understand. As to why he continued to see Jeffrey Epstein despite his wife’s warnings, Melinda Gates was clear: “It’s up to Bill to answer.”

After 27 years of marriage, Bill and Melinda Gates announced their divorce in a statement posted on social media in May 2021. But it wasn’t until August that it was finally finalized. Last December, the Microsoft founder referred to 2021 as “the toughest year” of his life. But even if they are separated, the ex-spouses have decided to continue working together at “The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation” created 22 years ago. The businesswoman also described her relationship with the entrepreneur as “friendly”, and nothing more.
