According to information published at the end of September, the player would have been sanctioned after a fight in Malta during the ESL Pro League S16. Confirming his injury, he then indicated that the information was false about the reason for his health concerns. Today, Astralis announces that it has found common ground to formalize the separation.
k0nfig is going through a tough time with issues he doesn’t want to discuss publicly; we fully respect it. This has affected his ability to contribute to the team and we have had ongoing and constructive discussions with Christian, who needs time to focus on his personal life.
Together we explored different options, and if no one knows where things will be in three or six months, for now, it’s about giving Christian space and time without the constant pressure to come back and play. We have therefore reached an agreement to terminate his contract.
These aren’t the best days for everyone involved, but we agree it’s the right thing to do. With his energy and positive attitude, Christian made a great contribution to the team both on and off the server, and it’s no secret that everyone at Astralis appreciated his presence.
Astralis therefore does not confirm the cause of this separation, even if it is for personal reasons. k0nfig, one of CS:GO’s biggest stars in recent years, arrived at Astralis last November after stints at OpTic Gaming or Complexityending each time with a bench.
Also according to persistent rumors for a few days, the Danish team had already planned to sign another superstar: dev1ce should return to the club after its record sale at Ninjas in Pajamas which did not convince the leaders.
