Mercato LoL: Hanwha Life Esports formalizes its new LCK roster

A few hours after the rumors, Hanwha Life Esports has confirmed its roster for LCK 2023. After a catastrophic season in 2022, ending with a last place in the Korean split, the structure had decided to wipe the slate clean and free up almost all of its roster, except top laner DuDu. At the opening of the transfer window, only one player had been announced, Viper, back in LCK and in his former club after a freelance in China. And as revealed yesterday, two 2022 world champions have just joined him.

HLE confirms the signing of midlaner Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo and top laner Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon, both from DRX. The club had tried to retain them as the contract ended, but the negotiations failed to maintain their contracts. The two players finally left for HLE, which has also just announced two other recruitments for the coming season.

The roster is therefore virtually complete, since the Korean jungler Kim “Clid“Tae-min and Fellow Supporter Kim”Life” Jeong-min arrive at HLE. The first had been left free to explore other options at the opening of the transfer window on the side of FPX, after a season in LPL at the bottom of the table. A change of region which does not had not succeeded in Clid, former Gen.G competitor with whom he had been on the podium in LCK.

For Life, it is a promising recruitment for HLE which is offered again a former Gen.G executive, semi-finalist of the Worlds 2021, whose last season at KT Rolster was mixed. The club has its starting five but could still have a few leads to activate to double certain positions.
