Mersen revises its objectives for the 2022 financial year upwards – 07/20/2022 at 18:20

(AOF) – The Mersen group, present in the electrical specialties and advanced materials segments, has announced the raising of its objectives for the year 2022. The group now forecasts organic growth of between 8% and 10%, against 3 -6% previously as well as a current operating margin of around 10.5% of sales, against around 10% previously. The former Carbone Lorraine achieved consolidated revenue of 923 million euros in 2021.

The Ebitda margin should also increase by around 50 basis points, against +20-30 basis points previously. As for industrial investments, they would be between 85 and 90 million euros, in order to take into account the impacts of exchange rates and inflation (compared to 80 to 85 million euros).

This increase in forecasts is based on sustained levels of activity and orders in the first half. Organic sales growth over this period should be around 11%, while the current operating margin should be around 10.5% of sales.

Other parameters supporting these forecasts include the better than expected performance in the process industries as well as the positive impact of price increases on sales.

The group will publish its half-year results on July 28, 2022 after trading.

Great prospects with green hydrogen for the electricity sector

The French hydrogen plan of 7 billion euros, which has been increased to 9 billion, aims to develop an industrial sector for the production of low-carbon hydrogen. Gimélec, the group of companies in the digital electronics sector in France, has identified strong benefits for manufacturers of electrical equipment. For its members, the economic benefits are estimated at 10 billion euros by 2030, then an additional 20 billion for the period 2030 to 2040, mainly for the sector of manufacturers of digital electronic equipment (from transformers to control systems ). This will lead to massive recruitment, in particular in the territories where the hydrogen development efforts will be concentrated, in the Mediterranean and in the Seine Valley.
