Since the release of its connected watches Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, last August, Samsung continues to offer regular updates for its two toquantes. We learned last week that the two watches would benefit from four years of updates, like the manufacturer’s smartphones, but also that the watches could take advantage of YouTube Music streaming, without the need to download the songs beforehand.

A new update to Google’s Wear OS 3 system now allows you to take advantage of a new notification system. As 9to5Google reports, Samsung’s latest watches can now show more information about notifications received from messaging apps Slack or Google Messages. In addition to displaying the name of the person sending you a message, the notification screen will also display their avatar so that you can recognize the interlocutor even more quickly.

This function was already supported by some applications – 9to5Google cites email notifications by Gmail for example – but was not yet present for Slack or Google Messages. These two applications were satisfied with the only logo of the application with the name of the person and the message.

News for sleep and health

Along with better handling of message notifications, the latest Wear OS 3 update on the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic also added several new features. This is particularly the case with more precise training, the arrival of Google Assistant or better managed sleep programs, with animals as a symbol of the type of sleeper that we are.

Remember that the latest Samsung watches are, for the moment, the only knockers on the market to take advantage of the latest version of Wear OS. Other watches have since been announced, from Fossil, Ticwatch or Tag Heuer, but all were launched under Wear OS 2 with the promise of an update to Wear OS 3 within the year. The features deployed since by Google should in turn make their arrival on these watches when the update is launched.
