Surprise ! After several years alone, Messenger is back… on Facebook!
The parent company of the two applications, Meta, wants to make interactions between users easier and more practical.
Messenger, a solo application since 2014
It was in 2014, we were playing Dark Souls 2we discovered Candlestick of Sia, and some were still handling a Windows Phone. At the time, the Facebook mobile application made it possible to enjoy the joys of publications, but also to chat on Messenger. However, the American giant had decided to separate the two uses, creating a dedicated Messenger application.
Since then, millions of users have become accustomed to daily use of the two applications, previously combined into one. Recently, Meta has just formalized the return of Messenger to Facebook.
The return of Messenger!
Indeed, through a rather astonishing publication in which he indicates that ” Facebook is neither dead nor dying “, the American group confirms the gradual return of Messenger in the Facebook mobile application. Good news when you know that Messenger has (among other things) a tendency to drain the battery of our smartphones.
” We are testing the ability for users to access their Messenger inbox from the Facebook app and will expand these tests soon “, explains Tom Alison on behalf of Meta. The reunification will soon be effective, without further details for the moment.
Meta says that on Instagram, users share Reels up to 1 billion times a day through private messages. On Facebook, the private sharing of these same short videos is also growing strongly, and the American giant obviously hopes that the return of Messenger will boost this trend. The desire would be to (re)make Facebook a real platform for entertainment, discovery and sharing.
In his blog post, Tom Alison says the return of Messenger will allow users to ” make it easy for Messenger to share Facebook discoveries when, where, and how they want, without having to switch to another app “. That, and if possible continue to compete effectively with a certain TikTok too.
