Barca screw up Supercup final

FC Barcelona missed their 14th triumph in the Spanish Supercup. Barca had looked like the winner until the 90th minute.

National goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and FC Barcelona lost the Spanish Supercup final against Athletic Bilbao with 2: 3 (2: 2, 1: 1) after extra time, despite leading twice. During extra time, Inaki Williams scored the winning goal for the underdog with an outstanding shot in Seville on Sunday evening. Ter Stegen had no chance for the goal, the ball jumped from the inside post into the goal.

A brace from French international Antoine Griezmann (40th / 77th minute) had previously put Barcelona in the lead twice. Superstar Lionel Messi was there again – but was sent off shortly before the game's final whistle after an assault.

For Sevilla Oscar de Marcos had scored 1: 1 (42nd) in the meantime before half-time, Asier Villalibre saved Sevilla in the 90th minute with his goal to 2-2 in extra time. Bilbao had already prevailed against Real Madrid in the semi-finals and has now won the Supercup three times, most recently with a win against Barcelona in 2015.
