Originally from Quebec, Éric Normandin, better known under the pseudonym Messmer, made a name for himself in France thanks to his talents as a hypnotist. He notably participated in a television show presented by Arthur on TF1, in which he had fun hypnotizing the various celebrities present on set. In addition to the small screen, Messmer also performs on stage. After having triumphed for many years on stage thanks to his previous show, the Quebec hypnotist imagined a brand new show called 13 Hertz. Messmer will thus perform throughout France from January 2024. He will notably be present at the Grand Rex from January 11 to 21, 2024 to begin with. As part of the promotion of his new show, Arthur’s former sidekick visited the show 50′ inside, broadcast Saturday December 2, 2023 on TF1. During her interview with Isabelle Ithurburu, Messmer has rarely spoken about his private life.
Messmer: “I had already had surgery, I had a vasectomy”
“You found love through hypnosis. You met your second wife Sophie and she works with you. She became your assistant”, first recalled the host of 50′ inside. Isabelle Ithurburu then wanted to know if it was difficult for Messmer to work with his partner. “Well no, it’s okay! She’s under hypnosis!”, he said with humor, before quickly clarifying: “That’s not true! We have a bond, that’s for sure, we’re together all the time. We’re acrobats. I like that.” Already the father of two children from his first marriage, Messmer has once again started a family with his new partner. However, it was impossible for the couple to have children naturally. “When I met Sophie, she didn’t have any children. For her, I knew it was still an issue. I said, ‘Okay! Here we go ! We did it !’ And we had to go through in vitro fertilization and all that because I had already had surgery, I had had a vasectomy… I talk about it here!”explained the hypnotist. “It still took several tries before I managed to get Soleil, and the same thing for Magie. But in the end, when you see these two little beauties, it’s magical! And it brings sunshine to our lives.”Messmer finally concluded.
