Meta: EU clears proposed acquisition of Kustomer

(CercleFinance.com) – The European Commission has cleared today, under the EU Merger Regulation, the proposed acquisition of Kustomer by Meta (formerly Facebook) – clearance which remains subject to full compliance with commitments offered by Meta.

Kustomer is a company that provides customer service and helpdesk software for customer relationship management.

Today’s decision follows an extensive investigation into the proposed acquisition of Kustomer by Meta.

Indeed, Meta’s popular messaging channels, namely WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, are important means of interaction between companies and their customers and the Commission wanted to know whether Meta could put Kustomer’s competitors at a disadvantage.

The Commission was visibly reassured: ‘our decision today will ensure that innovative competitors and new entrants in the customer relationship management software market can compete effectively’, explains MargretheVestager, Vice- Executive President in charge of competition policy within the Commission.
