Meta Quest 4 Pro: a future virtual reality headset produced with LG to compete with Apple?

The availability of Apple’s Vision Pro augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) headset is expected to be limited in 2024, which could allow competition to organize.

Among the rivals of the Apple firm, Meta would have entered into a partnership with LG to produce its future high-end headphones, according to the Korean economic newspaper Maeil. Facebook’s parent company had already partnered with Xiaomi to produce the Oculus Go and Lenovo to design the Oculus Rift S.

A high-end helmet planned for 2025

Rumors point to production by LG Electronics, with parts supplied by LG Display (subsidiary dedicated to screens), LG Innotek (subsidiary dedicated to electronic components) and LG Energy Solution (subsidiary dedicated to batteries). If the rumors are confirmed, this new helmet could be launched in 2025 via a joint venture between the two partners. It would join the Quest line as a Pro model and could be named Meta Quest 4 Pro, although this is still highly speculative.

This new model would compete with Apple’s Vision Pro headphones, announced at $3,500. Still according to the Korean newspaper Maeilan entry-level headset at around $200 could also be launched by Meta, this time in 2024 and without the help of LG Electronics.
