Between the PSVR 2 of playstation and the HTC Vive XR Elite, this February is going to be a highlight for VR. The first should not really worry Meta beyond measure due to its purely general public positioning and due to the fact that it is linked to a PS5 console to be used. On the other hand, the second even if it is not as complete – basic – than the Meta Quest Pro, targets the same audience for a lower price of 400 euros. Would be that imminent exit that pushes Meta to offer such a sharp price drop barely three months after the release of his helmet ?
To date, the Meta Quest Pro is displayed at 1099.99 dollars excluding taxes on American sites, such as Amazon.cominstead of 1499.99. A priori, this discount of 400 dollars – which is equivalent to the price of a Meta Quest 2 – is not as generous in England where the helmet is now displayed at 1299.99 pounds with taxes included instead of 1499.99. This is still a discount of 200 pounds (230 euros).
Those who hesitated to take a Quest Pro compared to its excessive price – and are across the Atlantic – have here a golden opportunity to have fun. Those who cracked before and paid full price, on the other hand, must not appreciate the joke. As for us, in Europe, there is no postponement at the time of writing these lines, unfortunately. To be continued, because there is no reason why it can’t happen here too. By the way, don’t fall for the US prices, going through customs (+20%) and shipping costs ($273.20) would undermine the discount.
