The beta of the V57 update has arrived via the PTC channel (that of the beta testers). With this new firmware, which does not yet seem to have caused any significant bugs, Meta will please many users. Even if all the new features are not necessarily yet discovered and active, we couldn’t wait any longer to share with you those that are already.
- Legs to our avatars! (already active)
Meta has finally added legs to our avatars and, even if it seems anecdotal, it’s still more pleasant to see themselves in full. Note, the movement of these is managed by the AI and they move according to the movement of our body. No need to bend your knees or even kick, this will not be reproduced in the virtual world. At least for the moment. Finally, the legs are only visible on other people. Impossible to see them by looking at his (except in the mirror). It’s a great step forward that still deserves to evolve but, no pun intended, it’s a good first step.
- Remove avatar mirror from our Home (sourceNayaVR)
For some time, the reception area offered a mirror that reflected our avatar. This feature, which is generally useless, it must be admitted, was – as a bonus – considered cumbersome by some. It will now be possible to fire it via an option in the settings.
- Airplane mode (source NayaVR)
It will be possible to switch the VR headset to airplane mode. A priori, this could put the headset in 3DoF mode to be able to enjoy it as a multimedia player on the plane or in the car.
- Horizon Worlds portal in the Home (sourceNayaVR)
A shortcut to Metavers ? The latter needs it because it is currently neglected with less than 1000 English-speaking users per day.
- Energy-saving mode (Extended Battery Mode)
A priori, as on a smartphone, it will be possible to extend the life of the battery by activating this option. This will be done, no doubt, to the detriment of performance, but it can be practical for multimedia or office use.
While waiting for more information on what will officially be released in the final version of V57, these first discoveries are rather pleasant and interesting.. We’ll be sure to update this article if more features are discovered. Remember that enabling the PTC channel (phone app: Advanced Settings – Enable PTC Channel) to participate in firmware betas often brings annoying bugs. So prefer the patience option to that of curiosity if you are not the patient type.
