NEW YORK (Reuters) – Facebook owner Meta said on Friday it had developed a new artificial intelligence (AI) model called Movie Gen that can generate realistic video clips that could rival products from OpenAI and ElevenLabs.
Examples of Movie Gen creatives provided by Meta include videos of animals swimming and surfing, as well as footage using photos of people in motion.
The tech giant also clarified in a blog post that Movie Gen can generate background music and sound effects synchronized with video content. Additionally, the tool allows editing existing videos.
The entertainment industry is eager to use these types of tools to improve and speed up film production, while others are concerned about copyright protection.
