Meta is not very far from officially presenting its very first augmented reality glasses. But this will not be to lure the public for further commercialization.
The launch of Apple’s mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro, seems to have really affected Mark Zuckerberg. The boss of Meta has since the release of this product explained in a video that the Meta Quest 3 headset was better, while he is today present in South Korea to finalize an agreement with LG, with the idea of creating a competitor to the Vision Pro. But that’s not enough, and Meta should push the envelope a little further, this time with his augmented reality glasses.
Meta is preparing something heavy for this fall
When it comes to virtual reality, or augmented reality, you always have to rely on Meta. The American giant continues to advance in these areas, to the point that, according to information from Business Insiderit should be able to present its first augmented reality glasses this year.
More precisely, these glasses, known internally by the code name Orion, would be presented at Meta’s annual conference, Connect. A conference which will be organized in the fall.
To buy, you will have to wait… a long time!
Still according to the same source, “ There is [actuellement] internal pressure to ensure a high level of performance. » However, while the prototype that all eyes will be on at the end of the year should already be fully functional, it should also be incredibly expensive to produce.
As a result, Meta would not intend to put it on the market straight away. We would have to wait several more years for the group chaired by Mark Zuckerberg to be able to mass produce these augmented reality glasses at a price that would allow them to be sold. The objective here therefore seems to be to take the spotlight a little while Apple’s Vision Pro is still getting more attention.
