(Boursier.com) — The group METabolic Explorer (METEX) welcomed, on April 8, Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate in charge of Industry and Energy, to its Amiens factory. On this occasion, the minister was able to discuss with elected officials and managers of the METEX group, as well as with union representatives from the Amiens site during a working meeting on the way in which public authorities work to find conditions of access to sugar at a competitive price. These discussions continued with a tour of the factory facilities.
“METEX has been facing a hostile economic environment for several months, linked to exogenous causes such as the increase in the price of raw materials, including sugar, and the dumping practiced by Chinese lysine producers on the European market. I am well placed to know all the efforts made by the public authorities to find a solution allowing METEX to access sugar at a competitive price. The arrival of Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate in charge of Industry and Energy, is a a strong act which shows that the State is well aware of the urgency to act to preserve this capacity for production and innovation on French soil, in order to defend our food and medical sovereignty. It is also an act of hope for the 450 employees of the METEX group whose unique know-how must be safeguarded here in Amiens, but also in Saint-Beauzire where our research & development teams work to fully contribute to the decarbonization of the economy. It is therefore with confidence and determination that management and staff representatives will continue to work hand in hand with State services and with all the institutional actors, local elected officials and parliamentarians who support us to give a future to our company,” said Benjamin Gonzalez, President and CEO of METEX.
