Metal Gear: for the 35th anniversary of the series, Konami announces the return to sale of games deleted from download platforms

Cult saga, rich and sprawling, Metal Gear came to a halt in 2015 with the departure of its creator Hideo Kojima from Konami. Apart from a Metal Gear Survive more than passable, she’s been stalled ever since, but players are far from forgetting her memory. We are also celebrating today the 35th anniversary of the founding episode, Metal Gearreleased July 13, 1987 on MSX2 in Japan.

Konami split from a tweet occasion to celebrate this anniversary and above all gave good news to those who would like to revisit the franchise: the publisher “is preparing to resume sales of temporarily suspended titles”. Because yes, remember, last year, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eatertheir derivatives and the compilations that included them had been removed from PS3 download platforms, Xbox3DS, SHIELD TV or PC via GOG.com. This was obviously due to archive images present in games whose exploitation rights had expired.

So it seems that Konami will bring them back to the shops soon. This, however, opens the door to many questions and assumptions. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is it going to be put back on theeShop left out of the 3DS? Will the publisher take the opportunity to integrate Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in the Catalog of Classics from Playstation Plus ? And if others spin-offs or older episodes took the opportunity to return to more modern and accessible platforms, such as Steam ? We may have the answer in the coming weeks.

For latecomers, Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience is available from €14.99 on Amazon.co.uk.
